In 1971, Carolyn Davidson created the famous Nike Swoosh for $35. She was a Portland State University graphic design student. The swoosh became an instantly-recognizable insignia for Nike around the world. In 1983, Nike co-founder and CEO Phil Knight gave Davidson a diamond ring with the swoosh on it and Nike stock in an amount that remains a secret!
